teen book blog spot

WELCOME

Hi. This is a teen book blog. Books that I read and find interesting I post here. I score the books between 0 and 10 They get a rating depending on what I enjoy. This is different than other blogs because young adult books are usually reviewed by adults. These books are reviewed by another teen. You can respond to my comments if you've read the book, want to read it, or just think it sounds interesting. Enjoy!

The Sally Lockhart Mysteries- Philip Pullman

The Sally Lockhart Mysteries is a series of four books about a young woman, Sally Lockhart, and her close friends: Jim, Frederick, Webster, Daniel, and Rosa who solve crimes, as well as other mysteries. The series begins with Sally discovering her own past while uncovering a dark secret about a murderer. It goes on to another book about Sally coming across a corrupt man developing machines to commit killings. She will try to stop him; if he does not kill her first. The last two books are combined into one copy. Sally's lover dies in a fire, and she is having his baby. Another man, a stranger to Sally, states that she is his wife, and that the daughter is his. He has plenty of evidence of his marriage, all of which is fake. He will be able to destroy Sally's life and take her daughter unless Sally can find out who would have such a grudge against her to do such a thing. There's another book by Pullman that includes some characters from the Sally Lockhart Mysteries. It's about Sally's friend Jim; Adelaide, a girl with which the readers were previously acquainted with from the first series; and Becky, a new character. Adelaide, a London commoner, marries a prince- who then becomes the king of Razvakia, another country. But, when her husband dies, Adelaide, as the new ruler of her country, and her friends must do everything they possibly can to keep Razvakia, it's people, and eachother safe.

These Philip Pullman books are different from the His Dark Materials series. They are about totally different things, and therefore can not be easily compared. They are both, however, excellently written. The Sally Lockhart Mysteries sometimes carry a tinge of scaryness, but not enough for easily frightened people to stop reading!
